Lorde’s NSFW Vinyl Insert for Virgin Album

The Hottest Summer Songs of 2025: Sabrina Carpenter, Lorde and Tate McRae! (Exclusive)

Lorde‘s NSFW album art isn’t getting the green light from all her fans.

The “What Was That” singer raised eyebrows when she shared the accompanying art for a vinyl edition of her forthcoming album, Virgin, which hit stands on June 27.

For the special version, Lorde included a photo insert that showed a close-up photo of a person wearing clear, plastic pants that leave nothing to the imagination. In fact, the image offered a glimpse at the seated body’s belly button, thighs and the person’s, er, special place in between.

Following the Vinyl’s reveal, many fans expressed feeling shocked by the creative choice.

“So the new Lorde vinyl just got delivered,” one user wrote on X (formerly witter) June 27. “I was not prepared for the insert.”

Alongside a GIF of a young boy making a surprised face, another joked, “Mindlessly scrolling the TL then seeing Lorde’s vinyl.”

However, not everyone was taken aback by the image, with some arguing that it was an artful tie-in to the album’s themes regarding sex and gender identity.
