Ashley Tisdale French has a suite update on her life.
Six years after the actress last stepped in front of the camera in Carol’s Second Act, she announced her return to the small screen in the upcoming series You’re Only Young Twice.
“I told my agent I was retired in acting,” Ashley teased alongside the announcement on Instagram Feb. 27, “and he said… umm no you’re not.”
The comedy series will follow once-couple Emily (Ashley) and Alex, who married in high school after Emily got pregnant. With their child starting college, the couple, now each 35, can get a divorce and start a new chapter while, according to Deadline, “they’re still young enough to enjoy it.” Newly divorced, Emily and Alex explore dating and co-parenting in their 30s.
Along with starring in the CBS show, Ashley is also an executive producer alongside writer Tommy Johnagin and Mandy Summers.
Although Ashley’s last live-action role was in 2019 as Dr. Carol Kenney’s sister Jenny in Carol’s Second Act, she has continued to be the original voice of Candace Flynn in Phineas and Ferb. (The cartoon ran from 2007 to 2015 and then returned again in 2025.)
