While the Hacks star drew laughs at the 2025 MTV VMAs Sept. 7 speaking from stage dressed as a coffee filter, there was at least one social media user who couldn’t correctly identify her (though they kept trying).
Sharing a picture of Megan and Ariana Grande posing together at the event, the user captioned the post to X (formerly Twitter), “Ariana Grande with Ava Max.”
In a follow up, the user wrote alongside pictures of the pair hugging, “Ariana Grande with Kesha or something at the #VMAs.”
Finally, the fan threw in the towel, writing, “I can’t figure out who the f–k this is cus apparently it’s not ava max either.”
Megan—known for her viral red carpet fashion, including her Diet Coke outfit at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards—shared screenshots of the posts to her Instagram, which prompted a hilarious response from the Wicked actress herself.
